After almost three months on the islands, it’s finally time for me to leave. While I am looking forward to getting back to the mainland, I am certainly going to miss these islands. The last few days have been insanely hot and sunny, which in some ways that made focusing on fieldwork difficult. But it also made the whole place seem like a tropical paradise. I got to have my birthday barbecue up on top of the woolpack in the blazing sunshine.
I feel that this years fieldwork has gone really well. It’s certainly produced an awful of data to look forward to crunching through. Pages and pages of observations, gigabytes of video and several maps of raft movements. Oh, and I suppose at some point I should write all this stuff up!
It’s going to be a busy winter.
